Did you ever watched the TV show Little House on Prairie TV? Were you a fan of the show? Whether anyone had watched the show on TV during the original run in 1974 to 1983 or watched through the rerun, all fan of all the time had fell in love with the Laura Ingalls and with the Ingalls family as well. Though on the show we had seen that Laura and Nellie were rivals, but off camera the actresses were very good friends. Later Nellie got married with Percival who was portrayed by Steve Tracy. Steve was gay in real life, but really didn't matter.
The two actors loved to make out Laura, just to irritate poor Melissa Gilbert who's love life wasn't that much passionate with Almanzo. The on screen love bids used to so passionately on camera to only make jealous the young and innocent Gilbert.
Many of the cast and crew of the show were intensely drugs and alcohol addicted. As a result there was a huge supply of them on the set. Even the crew used to finish two cases of Coors beer everyday. Moreover, on a so called stressful day for them, they would finish three cases of within a day during the shooting.
Michael Landon was very much addicted to drinking and Melissa Gilbert admitted that at the time of writing her autobiography that she had no idea how much Landon was drinking at the time of shooting. It looked like that he would spike his coffee or other soft drinks with vodka and every people of the set was aware of his extend to get drunk on set.
Though Michael Landon had spread christian message throughout the whole show, but in real life he was identified as Jewish. His name was Eugene Maurice Orowitz, which also describes pretty much about his Jewish roots. But the most important part was he never thought this as a matter of conflict.
Eugene was born in New York and grew up in New Jersey with his parents. His mother Peggy O'Neil was Catholic and his father Eli Maurice Orowitz was Jewish, and culturally he took after the religion of his father. But in real life he never dedicated his life to any organized religion, though he was a person who believed in God. It was only his cultural identity that he was Jewish. Isn't this very much strange?

Though the show's story was definitely on a light topic, but there was some theme in the show which was very much sophisticated and the issues were not politically perfect for bring out at that time when the series was brought out.
Some of the issues were addiction, racism, prejudice and rape and other serious issue of that time. It was good for the society to bring up the issues and these themes were brought up because no other show of its time offered to do something similar. But the issues were groundbreaking for that time period.
Can you remember Willie Oleson? He was Laura's nemesis' little brother in the show but in real life, adopted brother of the actress who played the role Laura Jonathan which was Melissa Gilbert. How shocking news, right? Can you imagine the time period it had taken of the cast members to process this one?
But unfortunately, the siblings were no more in touch as it Melissa Gilbert had confirmed it at the time of writing of her autobiography. Actually it is a matter of sorrow that the siblings who used to love each other so much, suddenly they were not even in touch with each other.
From the young age of Melissa Anderson and Melissa Gilbert , they could not get along with each other. The tension between the two grew to be so immense that it remained for the entire duration of the show. And no one ever likes to deal with mean people.

The series was based on a book which writer was Laura Ingalls Wilder, dealt with a good amount of moves in her lifetime. In her childhood, she had spent a lot of of time in a place called Walnut Grove, Minnesota.
Actually her curly hair was a very far away from real. They able to fooled you because the wigs had worked wonderfully. Alison Arngrim who played the role of Nellie, was actually a by born blonde. She had a so fine hair that it didn't hold the curls nicely.
Alison Arngrim had revealed all this information in her autobiography and also said that the wig she had worn on the show for the character was so tightly attached to her that it caused bleeding from her scalp even. Which was very much painful.
It was a misfortune that several cast member ended up by the disease cancer, even some of them passed away from the disease. Even Michael Landon got pancreatic cancer. There ere other in the list like Victor French who played the role of Isaiah Edward and Kevin Hagen who played the role of Doc Baker.
Charlotte Stewart who played the character f Miss Beadle, was the only one who got the cancer, but managed to survive the disease. There was radioactively contaminated materials that were very close to the set of their show. And many believed, that cased so many member of the crew to get affected for cancer.
When puberty comes one can not do much about it and our Melissa Gilbert was no exception. This was one of the most unpleasant memory for a growing up child actress, specially on this kind of show where she had to fit in such a tight-knit cast who went through everything together.
Like all the children of the cast Gilbert continued to grow and her figure became more and more feminine, dsspite the timeline on the show. To continue shooting, she has to bind her chest as the scriot was not allowing her to become mature at that time. Imagine if you had to wearing binds around your upper half every day, would this be very cool?
Michael Landon always loved to play constantly prank on her costars and staffs, which was helpful to keep things interesting in the set. He was very much fond of messing with everyone and it is said that he never left the set without pulling a prank or making fun of anyone.
One of his prime example of his prank on set was chasing Laura Ingalls after the camera had been turned off if she had been running in the first place. Poor Laura had to continue running though it was not that much exhausting to run.
According to the script, at the last episode of the show they had to blown up the residents of the Walnut Grove, and it's cause was they were kicked off from their own land. It sounds crazy, right?
Actually the team had rented the land from land lord for the cause of shooting and they had to return the land to the landlord as it's own shape. So when the time came, Michael had made the idea to blown the town in the last episode and it would minimize the cost of clearing the land as well.
On the show, Mary was the oldest among all the sisters, was portrayed by actress Melissa Sue Anderson. But unfortunately she never had any close relationship with any of her cast mates. The other cast member usually thought her as standoffish and somewhat aloof.
Most of the cast just take it as the problem in her upbringing which was may be in an overprotective family. But to be honest, this can't be a proper excuse for that kinda behavior. Even some of her cast member had described her as mean, stuck up or someone who just needed to chill. That's what it actually looks behind the camera.

Melissa's father had passed away at the age of her 11 only, so she thought that Michael was the person who acted as a paternal figure that she had already lost in her young age. It is not needed to mention that shooting a series on this kind of set was extra difficult as the women wore periodic outfits with a lot of layers and it would make the things more difficult and uncomfortable. As a result of the heat, Alison Arngrim actually passed out a the first day of shooting and also an assistant director. I wonder, why there was no doctor on the set!
Michael Landon had got a pretty good figure and body and he loved to show off her body specially on camera. He did the same on Bonanza, but on LHOTP. But he did something very specific. His character always had some sort of injuries like broken rib or arm which made him specific.

Inexperienced was not only the only cause which was making her uncomfortable, another reason was the actor who was against her playing the character of Almanzo, was quite elder compared to her. At that time she was only 15, where Almanzo was 23. I would have been uncomfortable there, so I can't blame her anxiety about that matter.
Melissa was completely opposite of the character which was shown on the show. In real life she was a kind of typical "wild child" despite of her character on the show. So had something interesting for bad boys, not only bad boys, but the bad boys of Hollywood. She has dated with Scott Baio, Michael Landon Jr end Tom Cruise as well.
Though she was engaged with Rob Lowe once, but it didn't for a very long time. After the engagement she had married three time till now : To Bruce Boxleitner, Bo Brinkman and her current husband is Timothy Busfield. Hold on girl, there's a long way to go.
The character of Carrie was played by two people at a time. They were twin child actress named Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush. The reason behind playing a character with two girls were just a matter of not violating law. So the director decided to recruit two twin girl at a time in order not to violating child labor laws.

Karen Grassle, the actress who played the role of Caroline "Ma" Ingalls'. She used a different name during the time of her audition. She decided to set the name actually Gabriel Tree! Though the name was sounded a bit odd, but it was really stands out from the rest.
